My secret is that I can hardly blame him for any of the reasons he resents me. I'm just relieved he doesn't try to "fix" me like he does his wacko gang of enemies. He means well, for a bored psychopath who is incapable of letting go and does infinite more harm than good in his chosen profession.

I got my goddamned wish when I wanted this one to understand me. She relished in the worship and blasphemy, and when I wanted a meddling divine antagonist to resent, the played the role perfectly. Everything my own universe's Lucifer never wanted to do. It was all enough to make me forget that the forms these beings inhabit are scared children being groomed for ritual sacrifice. I never said I was a nice bloke, though.

A great example of exactly the kind of luck I run. I finally meet a deity that likes me and is willing to defend my soul from eternal damnation, and they vanish in a puff of stardust after recovering from a meltdown. Probably just what I deserve.
